International Boarding School

Ten questions for our notable alumna Anna Martynenko

1) What have you been up to since you left Rosenberg?

After having graduated from Rosenberg with the Swiss Matura in 2005, I moved to London and completed a BA (hons) in International Business and a MSc in Banking and Finance. I have subsequently started working in the finance industry, most recently within the CEO Strategy Team of the Barclays Bank (Wealth and Investment Management Division).

2) What was the best thing about your time at Rosenberg?

The people I have met. Some of my closest friends today are those that I have met during my time at Rosenberg.

3) Which is your favourite city?

Zurich – this is where I feel ‘home away from home’. Although Zurich as a city offers a real buzz, you are still able to spend your time actively outdoors (e.g. on the lake) and the mountains are just a short drive away.

4) What is your favourite spot to hang out?

Somewhere in the mountains; there are plenty of great locations in Switzerland as well as other countries. I find that these are the places where I am able to relax the most.

5) Which place that you have never been to, is on top of your list to visit?

Peru. It offers so many natural and cultural treasures that have fascinated people for hundreds of years. I would love to experience its culture and history, to see its natural diversity and to meet its people.

6) Looking back at your own school time, what advice do you have for current Rosenberg students?

Believe in yourself, make the most out of your time in school - socialize, travel, learn how to play tennis/ski/snowboard, meet other students. Also, don’t forget that there are many nationalities on campus, which makes it easy to pick up different languages.

7) Which person inspires you?

I am inspired by my parents. They are ambitious and determined and they never give up. My parents have worked hard and have provided me with everything I could ever wish for. They are always there for me to guide and support me in everything I do.

8) What is precious to you?

My family and friends - I wouldn’t have been able to become the person I am today without their support. I am very lucky to have them in my life.

9) What are your projects for the future?

I am planning to pursue a career in strategy and just took a new job with a one of the leading strategy consulting companies in London. Besides work, I plan to continue traveling and exploring different cultures.

10) Complete this sentence: "To learn to live is…“

To learn to live is to learn to enjoy your life ‘in the moment’ and to have a positive outlook on the future, no matter what the current circumstances are. I believe that ultimately this kind of attitude is what will make one feel happy.
